MENCAP’s will be hosting the Employ Me London Project at their Uxbridge office, for any young SEND people aged 16-24. Learn new skills and get paid to work.

If you are or know of a young person who;

• is aged between 16 and 24

• lives in a London borough

• has a learning disability, learning difficulty or autism

• is out of education, employment or training (NEET)

In support of Black Pound Day, we would like to shine a light on @imaginemestories who operate a monthly subscription box and online bookshop of black children’s books and black history activities!

Black Pound Day was set up by @bpdofficial to encourage everyone to replace their usual purchases with products from Black-owned businesses once a month as a way of encouraging economic growth in underrepresented communities.

Windrush day workshops

Windrush Day Grant in partnership with ELP is running a series of FREE ONLINE workshops available to Ealing families. Parents/carers and their children are welcome to attend. Online workshops presented on Zoom

Workshop 1: Britain’s Black History

Tuesday 21st September at 4.30-5.30pm and again on 28th September at

These interactive whistle stop presentations provide a potted history of Black Peoples’ presence in the United Kingdom starting from the Roman Empire and incorporating the Tudor, Georgian, Victorian eras and the arrival of the Windrush generation up to the present day. The presentation includes aspects of British race relations and its impact on Black and White communities and covers the race riots in the 1950’s and the national uprisings during the 1980’s

These workshops will detail what happened to the group of Jamaican men who were filmed arriving at Tilbury docks in 1948. It will detail life on board the Empire Windrush and the other passengers. In addition, the housing and employment outcomes of the Windrush generation in general will be discussed and their contribution to Britain’s war effort and the rebuilding of Britain in the 1950s' and 1960s'.
